Position: Spa Therapist

Job Description:

Purpose of Role:

To provide a positive sense of well-being to all guests through the provision of safe spa treatment services which exceed guest expectations.

Core Job Functions

1. To deliver service exceeding guest expectations by

a - Obtains the basic medical history for a client, assesses any problems or conditions and suggests appropriate therapy based on current health of client
b - Delivering appropriate spa therapy sessions
c - Handling all enquiries accurately, efficiently, courteously and patiently
d - Maintain client information in a confidential manner
e - Recognising returning guests and acknowledging them by name and their preferences
f - Monitor physical well-being of guests throughout the spa treatment
g - Maintaining a clean and safe treatment room
h - Providing wellbeing advice when requested
i - Knowing about the Hotel services and politely assisting with all general guest enquiries

2. Responsible for following the health and safety and fire policies to protect all stakeholders, by

a - Following hotel policies and procedures
b - Ensuring all equipment is kept clean and hygienic at all times
c - Following CoSHH guidelines for use of cleaning materials
d - Checking safe temperatures are maintained in the treatment room
e - Ensuring compliance with personal hygiene rules and reporting infections and health hazards
f - Taking prompt corrective action to ensure hazardous situations are resolved quickly and do not recur

3. Comply with the department’s cost management efficiencies by

a - Using spa treatment oils, etc according to manufacturer’s guidelines to minimise waste
b - Ensuring equipment is both used and stored correctly to extend its life
c - Handling all equipment carefully to prevent damage and breakages
d - Reporting any faulty equipment immediately to minimise further damage/ repairs

Person Specification:


a - No formal academic education qualifications required
b - Good standard of written and verbal English (essential)
c - A recognised qualification in Spa Therapy treatments or similar d - Additional languages such as Korean or Chinese would be an advantage (desirable)


a - Previous experience of working in a Spa in a luxury environment
b - Previous experience of working in guest service would be an asset.

Physical requirements

- Physically capable of carrying out the duties of the post b
- Flexible rostering to meet guest requirements 7 days per week, 365 days per year

Functional Knowledge

a - Health & Safety Policy and to identify and report hazards
b - Hotel’s fire and terror threat emergency procedures
c - A variety of massage techniques
d - Understanding of contraindications to massage therapies
e - Additional languages such as Korean or Chinese would be an advantage
