Position: Assistant Marine Section Leader

Job Description:

• assist with the keeping accurate records of quantities, properties and locations of hazardous products and ensures that information required for emergency response management is readily available in the emergency response control centre. assist with the keeping accurate records of certificates pertaining to lifting equipment and for securing traceability between the certificate and the component supervision of loading, unloading, and ballasting operations on board, and assisting the Marine Section Leader in carrying out daily calculations regarding stability, weight of deck-loads, and contents of tanks.

el transport to/from the rig by other means when necessary In co-operation with the Marine Section Leader, supervision of the maintenance of hull, superstructure and marine equipment, including safety equipment, rescue equipment, and the escape routes. Plan and organise safety and contingency training in accord­ance with the rules and regulations in force.
• Assist in checking that all perso
el on board are in possession of valid certifi­cates for the obligatory safety training Assist in ensuring that the Safety Plans, Station Bills, Muster Cards, and Contingency Manuals are kept properly updated.
• Assist the Marine Section Leader in any emergency situation on board In co-operation with the OIM, the Section Leaders, the Medic, the Safety Delegates, evaluate the risk for all dangerous work on board, and ensure that the Work Permit system is utilised and that necessary safety actions are carried out.
• Participate in the prepara­tion of required risk analyses and contingency analyses, and prepare proposals concerning modifications, which may improve the contingency and safety on board the rig. assist with pla

• Ensure that tanks and confined spaces are checked by use of a portable gas detector instrument before any perso
el is permitted to enter for work or inspection
• Check that the deck (hull and stability) perso
el have sufficient professional education, and ensure that they get “on the job training”.
• In co-operation with the Marine Section Leader, carry out regular inspections and controls of the safety and rescue equipment, the cargo gear, the marine equipment, and the rig within your area of responsibility; and check that all relevant certificates are valid, and when required, arrange for renewal of the certificates.
• Assist the Marine Section Leader in keeping the collection of flag-state, national, and international rules and regula­tions updated.
• Make the required entries in the deck logbook, other logbooks, and in the maintenance system regarding all matters within the area of responsibility.
• (Special attention shall be made to entries in the maintenance system of new or modified safety and rescue equipment)
• Check that all containers, baskets, etc. including the accompanying lifting equipment, are properly certified upon arrival on board.
• Checking that manifests/cargo lists and passenger manifests are made prepared and delivered to the transporting unit, and copies are distributed as required onboard.
• Assist as required to ensure that reports within the area of responsibility are prepared and forwarded in accordance with the instructions in the Sirius Managemnet System.
• Particu­lar attention shall be paid to accident reports, near miss reports, and reports from safety meetings, AMU meetings, emergency drills, and inspections.
• Assist the Marine Section Leader with anchor handling when required.
• Make the required entries in logbooks, and in the maintenance system regarding all matters within the area of responsibility.

Education Required: First Degree or equivalent
Age: 18 - 50 years old
Driving License Class: 3
Basic Salary: B$ 3, 480 / Month
