Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

- Installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, troubleshoots loads and tests new and installed equipment including secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switch gear, power and control circuits, electrical intrusion alarms, and cathodic protection systems.
- Working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, determines the routing placement, type, size, gauge, load cell, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls.
- Determines size, type and gauge of wiring coupling, conduits, relays, etc. , effects necessary repairs and modifications.
- Ability to interpret plans, blueprints and engineering designs: use of tools and test equipment and ability to plan and competently accomplish assigned duties.
- Report to supervisor(s) regularly, keeping them updated on electrical activities and progress.
- Installs electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems.
- Installs safety and distribution components (e. g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc. ).
- Connects wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components.
- Prevents breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Performs effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.

Qualification and Requirements:

- Higher National Technical Education Certificate (HNTec) or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of at least 2-3 years’ experience in a production plant would be an advantage.
- Maintains the necessary activities in the framework of work safety and quality standards.
- Can adapt to shift hours and flexible working order.
- Able to operate effectively in a team.
- Work well under pressure and meet strict datelines.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Self-motivated with good communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and details conscious.
- Good command of computer knowledge.
- Able to read and understand technical manuals.
