Position: Assistant Crane Operator

Job Description:
• Under supervision of the Crane Operator and with due experience, operate the cranes as required for the ongoing work on board and as directed by superiors; making sure that the crane operations are carried out in accordance with the safety rules and regulations as well as the instructions for correct operation of the cranes Regular inspections of the cranes, the crane wires, and the cargo gear.
• Make sure that all cargo gear being used are properly certified, and assist the Crane Operator and the Marine Section Leader in maintaining accurate logs of all lifting gear and lifting appliances
• Assist the Crane Operator in carrying out regular maintenance work on the cranes and the cargo handling gear in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance Programme; and make the required entries in the maintenance and the lubrication/greasing logbook.
• Request technical assistance when necessary
• Assist the Crane Operator in supervising and assisting the deck crew (roustabouts and assistant roustabouts) during loading/unloading operations, pipe handling jobs, various maintenance work, cleaning of all deck areas, etc.
• Give the deck crew on the job training, train them specially in correct and safe slinging, proper and safe stowage of cargo and materials
• Correct and safe slinging, adequate and safe stowage of cargo and materials In giving correct crane signals, visually as well as by radio.
• Special emphasis should be put on radio procedure when ''blind lifting'' Location of signal man/slingers and other persons near the lift When required, instruct new Crane Operator trainees in operation and maintenance of cranes and lifting equipment
• Assist during helicopter operations on board, with reference to the Crane Operator supervise the deck crew in taking safety precautions, carrying out refuelling operations and loading/unloading work, as directed by the Marine Section Leader or the OIM
• Participate in the emergency preparedness drills, the safety meetings, and on the job training
• Carry out other due work as directed by Crane Operator, Marine Section Leader or OIM.

Education Required: GCE ''A'' Level
Age: 18 - 50 years old
Driving License Class: 3
Basic Salary: B$ 2, 610 / Month
