Description
we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanic to join our team and manage the maintenance and repairs of vacuum tankers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy vehicle and vacuum tanker systems, mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. The mechanic will ensure that all vacuum tankers are operating safely, efficiently and in compliance with all relevant regulations.
Responsibilities: -
Maintenance and Repair
1. Perform routine maintenance inspections and repairs on vacuum tankers, including pumps, hoses, valves and associated equipment.
2. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues with engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and vacuum pumps.
3. Replace worn or defective parts and components.
4. Ensure that vacuum tanks, valves and seals are properly functioning to prevent leaks and contamination.
5. Conduct scheduled maintenance as per manufacturer guidelines and company procedures to prevent equipment breakdowns.
6. Keep detailed records of inspections, repairs and maintenance activities in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
7. Quickly identify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems in vacuum tankers and perform the necessary repairs.
8. Collaborate with other team members to resolve complex issues that may arise with vacuum systems or truck engines.
9. Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines and environmental regulations when performing repairs and maintenance.
10. Perform safety checks to ensure that all components, such as the vacuum system, are in good working order and meet legal safety standards.
11. Test vacuum pumps, engines and related systems to ensure they are operating properly after repairs.
12. Conduct post-maintenance road tests to verify the performance of the vacuum tanker.
13. Assist with ordering parts and equipment as necessary.
14. Work closely with other mechanics and the operations team to ensure minimal downtime for vacuum tankers.
Education and Experience:
1. NTEC in mechanic or equivalent; technical certification in mechanics or related field is preferred.
2 Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working as a mechanic; with specific experience in vacuum tankers or heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
3. Strong understanding of vacuum pumps, hydraulic systems and truck engines.
4. Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to hazardous waste, liquids and vacuum systems.
