Job Description of Optician

. Interpret optical prescriptions written by Optometrist or ophthalmologists

. Operate lensometer and other equipment and tools to achieve proper fittings for patients and determine clients' present eyeglasses prescriptions, when necessary

. Give advice to patients on lens type, frames and styling, lens treatments including tints and coatings

. Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames in order to adjust eyeglasses to fit patients and repair damaged frames when possible

. Creating job orders to ensure delivery of proper lenses and verify that finished lenses are to specification

. Communicate with optometrists with questions or concerns about prescriptions and other related issues

. Assemble eyeglasses by cutting and edging lenses, then fitting the lenses into frames

. Assist customers to fit contact lens, insert, remove, care and use of contact lenses

. Supervise the training of new opticians, optical assistants

. Maintain records of customer prescriptions, work orders and payments

Probation Period - 3 months
Employment Contract - 2 years
